Craisin Breakfast Bars - Gigi Siguenza

Craisin Breakfast Bars

Yields - 12 bars


Ingredients

3 cups dry oatmeal- plain

½ cup margarine, soft

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

1 tbsp vanilla extract

½ cup shelled sunflower seeds, without salt

1 cup dried cranberries (craisins)

1 cup 2% milk


Prep

--------------------

With a mixer, cream margarine on medium speed

Add vanilla, then milk

In a separate bowl, mix all the dried ingredients except seeds and craisins

With mixer on low speed, add the dry ingredients to wet slowly, mixing just til all ingredients are well distributed

With mixing spoon, fold in the seeds and craisins


Cook

--------------------

Grease a 9x12 pan baking pan with margarine

Spread the mixture in pan, pressing down to form firm even surface

Bake at 375 for 15 minutess

Let cool for 10 minutes before cutting into 12 squares
